Dr. Naomi Azar
Naomi received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in 2024. She specializes in offering individual therapy to adolescents and younger adults (16-40 years old) struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem, perfectionism, and emotion regulation problems. She also works with parents in the perinatal period as they adjust to parenthood, experience perinatal mental health concerns, or face other life challenges. Naomi is fully bilingual and provides services in French and in English.
Naomi’s approach is integrative, client-centered, and trauma-informed. Her work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She also draws from mindfulness, self-compassion, and family systems theory. She supports her clients in exploring their past and current experiences as well as patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in order to find the skills and strategies that work for them. She tailors therapy to each client depending on their specific needs and goals. She views her role as a therapist as helping her clients to live a life that feels meaningful, intentional, and aligned with their values.
Naomi’s predoctoral residency in Winnipeg, Manitoba was accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and received training in health psychology, eating disorder treatment, trauma therapy, perinatal anxiety, and early psychosis intervention. She also trained in Child Psychiatry at the Jewish General Hospital, various departments at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (including chronic pain and gastroenterology), and the Teenage Health Unit of the Herzl Family Practice Centre. Throughout her training, Naomi has developed expertise in individual therapy, group therapy, family-based interventions, and psychological assessment. When she is not at D2, Naomi works part-time in the Outpatient Psychiatry Department at the Jewish General Hospital, where she treats adults with complex mental health issues and collaborates with various other health professionals as part of multidisciplinary teams.
