Dr. Héléna Renault, PhD

Héléna is a clinical psychologist who specializes in providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults navigating through life transitions and stressors. She also works with parents, offering support with managing stress and difficulties at home, and on strengthening parent-child relationships. She provides services in English and French.

Throughout her PhD in Clinical Psychology at McGill, she has received training in hospital and community settings, including at the Montreal Children’s and the Montreal General Hospitals, to gain substantial expertise in providing individual, group, and family interventions to people across stages of life. She is proficient in helping people tackle issues related to depression and anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, suicidal ideation, self-esteem, perfectionism, interpersonal relationships, and stressors involving family, school, and work. She has notable experience working with neurodivergent individuals and those who are part of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, particularly those with gender dysphoria or those questioning their identities.

She adopts a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centred approach that draws on and integrates techniques from cognitive behavioural therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) or Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as well as psychodynamic and humanistic therapies including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). She tailors her interventions to meet the unique needs of each client and is committed to creating a warm, non-judgemental space where individuals feel safe to explore pressing challenges and express their needs. She views her role as helping clients gain a deeper understanding of the origins of their difficulties while developing effective skills and strategies to reduce their distress and improve their well-being.
