Dr. Tiffany Resendes
Tiffany obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in 2024. She offers individual psychotherapy to adolescents and young adults (15-25 years old) experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, substance use problems, emotion regulation problems, and relationship/academic stressors. Tiffany also enjoys working with families to target young childhood difficulties, while reducing parenting stress, providing parent coaching, and improving the parent-child relationship. Her training in both psycho-diagnostic and psycho-educational assessment endows her with the abilities to assess various facets of functioning, offer differential diagnosis, and provide individuals and families with viable and malleable intervention targets to improve living.
Tiffany has accrued vast experience in both assessment and psychotherapy from hospital, community, and school settings. She completed her residency at the Teenage Health Unit, as part of the Herzl Family Practice Center, where she developed an appreciation for the importance of multi-disciplinary and holistic approaches to mental health care. Tiffany continues to collaborate with the Herzl Family Practice Center, providing first-line services to youths in crisis. She also received training in trauma-focused therapies during her training at the Batshaw Youth and Family Centers, with which she continues to work with to this day. Lastly, Tiffany’s expertise also stems from her extensive work in research; her doctoral thesis aimed to create preventative interventions for families of parents with a history of depression aimed at preventing the development of mental health problems in children by improving the family environment. Her research readily informs her clinical work, and help her continue to provide the highest quality of evidence-based care to her clients.
Tiffany firmly believes that her primary role as a psychologist is to support and guide her clients to make the best decisions for themselves, as they are the experts on their needs and goals. In such, she offers a client-centered approach and tailors her intervention style to her clients’ unique needs. Anchored in cognitive-behavioural therapies, such as acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy, as well as humanistic and psychodynamic principles, Tiffany aims to provide a safe, warm, and non-judgemental space for her clients to explore the origins of their difficulties, current patterns maintaining those difficulties, and effective strategies to help individuals reach their full potential.
