Marie Jélénia Cyrise
Jélénia Cyrise is originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 2008. She began her post-secondary academic career in the field of computer science and purposefully chose to pursue a career in the therapeutic helping field in 2012. After 10 years of studies at Dawson College and McGill University, she became an empathetic, practical, and passionate Social Worker, Couple and Family Therapist, and Psychotherapist. Jélénia acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience through internships and fieldwork. She has gained extensive knowledge in the mental health, psychiatry, and suicidal crisis intervention field, and continuously cultivates her professional interest. She provides services in French, English, and Haitian Creole. Her goal is to empower and assist individuals, couples, and families facing daily challenges and wanting to improve their well-being. She helps them develop concrete strategies and effective skills with empathy and professionalism.
Jélénia has been trained in various therapeutic modalities such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She combines these different modalities to address issues related to self-exploration, interpersonal dynamics, relationship concerns, and grief. She prioritizes a scientific, holistic, cultural, and systemic approach that considers individual experiences within broader social and cultural contexts.
Jélénia believes that "each person is the expert in their own life," and accordingly, she respects their unique needs, circumstances, experiences, emotions, and pace in the therapeutic process. She hopes to offer an inclusive and safe therapeutic environment fostered by understanding, empathy, and cultural sensitivity. Her ultimate commitment is to support and provide the necessary services and resources to individuals on their personal growth and healing journey.
